Description:

Monorin 50mg Injection is a medicine that reduces the amount of excess acid made by your stomach. It is used in people who are hospitalized to treat certain conditions in which the stomach produces too much acid.

Monorin 50mg Injection is also used to treat ulcers (sores in the lining of the stomach or intestine) which did not get cured with other medications. It is generally administered by a doctor or a nurse. Do not self-administered this medicine at home. The dose will depend on what you are being treated for. Follow the advice of your doctor while taking the medicine. This medicine should relieve indigestion and heartburn within a few hours. You may only need to use it for a short time when you have symptoms. If you are getting the injection to prevent ulcers and other conditions you may need to take it for longer a period. You should keep using it regularly to prevent problems from happening in the future. You may be able to help improve your symptoms by eating smaller meals more often and avoiding spicy or fatty foods.

Most people do not experience any side effects while taking the medicine. However, some people may experience headache, constipation, feeling drowsy or tired, and diarrhea. These side effects are usually mild and will go away when you stop taking this medicine or as you adjust to it. Consult your doctor if any of these side effects bother you or do not go away.

Before taking it, you should tell your doctor if you have any kidney or liver problems. Also tell your doctor what other medicines you are taking as some may affect, or be affected by, this medicine. Alcohol use can increase acid secretion, acid reflux in food pipe causing heartburn and decreasing effect of this drug. Monorin 50mg Injection can also decrease alcohol breakdown and increase its level in blood.

Pregnancy interaction:

Monorin 50mg Injection is probably safe to use during pregnancy.Animal studies have shown low or no adverse effect on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. Please consult your doctor.

Expert advice:

Monorin is a well tolerated and safe medicine with a very low incidence of side effects. Take Monorin before going to bed if you are taking this medicine once a day as it is very effective in controlling stomach acid released in the midnight. If you are also taking an antacid, take it two hours before or after taking Monorin. Avoid taking soft drinks, citrus fruits like orange and lemon, which can irritate the stomach and increase acid secretion. Inform your doctor if you do not feel better after taking Monorin for two weeks or 14 days as you may be suffering from some other problems. Side Effects:

So, use of Monorin leads to overgrowth of the harmful bacteria like clostridium difficile which can cause diarrhea. This is known as clostridium difficile–associated diarrhea (CDAD).
