Zalat 5mg Tablet is a type of diuretic (water pill) medicine. This medicine reduces excess fluid levels in the body and is used to treat edema (fluid overload) associated with heart, liver, kidney, or lung disease. It is also used in treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure).
- Uses / Indications: Zalat 5mg Tablet is used in high blood pressure and oedema. It treats oedema (fluid overload) associated with heart, liver, kidney or lung disease.
Interactions / Warnings:
Taking Metolazone with alcohol may have additive effects in lowering your blood pressure. You may experience headache, dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting, and/or changes in pulse or heart rate.
- Pregnancy interaction:
- Zalat 5mg Tablet is probably safe to use during pregnancy.Animal studies have shown low or no adverse effect on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. Please consult your doctor.
- Expert advice:
- Zalat helps lower blood pressure and also removes excess water from your body. Take it in the morning with breakfast to avoid getting up at night to urinate. May cause dizziness in the initial days of treatment. Monitor your blood pressure after starting Zalat, and notify your doctor if it hasn't gone down. Notify your doctor if you experience dizziness, tiredness, or muscle weakness that doesn't go away. Requires routine blood tests to monitor your kidney function.

- Zalat 5mg Tablet is a thiazide diuretic. It lowers blood pressure and fluid retention in edema by removing the extra water and certain electrolytes from the body. Over time it also works by relaxing blood vessels and improving blood flow.

Inform your doctor if you have these symptoms and you are taking both the drugs. Take foods rich in potassium like orange or other citrus fruit juices or take a potassium supplement.
