Description:

Mosart OD 1200 mg Tablet is a medicine used for the treatment of ulcerative colitis, a condition that causes swelling and ulcers (sores) in the lining of the large intestine and rectum. It works by blocking the production of certain chemicals that cause swelling and helps in relieving the symptoms such as stomach pain, diarrhoea, and rectal bleeding.

Mosart OD 1200 mg Tablet has some side effects like nausea, vomiting, heartburn, gas, sweating, dry mouth, etc. These side effects may subside by themselves. However, consult your doctor if they bother you for a long time or become severe. Avoid taking this medicine if you are allergic to it.

Mosart OD 1200 mg Tablet should be taken as directed by your doctor. The dose and duration of treatment will be determined by your doctor depending on the severity of your condition. Do not take more than the prescribed dose. Take it at the same time every day for the ease of remembering and for better results. Do not stop taking this medicine without consulting your doctor, as it may worsen your condition.

Mosart OD 1200mg Tablet may be unsafe to use during pregnancy.Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.

Expert advice:

Do not take the medicine if you are allergic to mesalazine, to any other content in the medicine, aspirin and other salicylate drugs. Do not take mesalazine if you have severe kidney or liver problems, blood disorders or uncontrolled bleeding. Do not take mesalazine if you have stomach or bowel ulcers or a history of bleeding ulcers, glucose-galactose mala absorption, Lapp-lactase deficiency or galactose intolerance. Doctor’s advice should be considered in case of patients with liver, kidney or lung disease (asthma). Avoid taking mesalazine if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant or breast-feeding.
