Dermoquinol 4% Cream belongs to a group of drugs called hydroxyquinoline antifungal agents. It kills the fungi that cause the infection, thus relieving the symptoms. This medicine is used in the treatment of fungal skin infections and bacterial infections of the external ear.
Dermoquinol 4% Cream should be used in the dose and duration as prescribed by your doctor. This medicine is for external use only and should be used regularly to get the most benefit from it. Do not use more than you need as it will not clear your condition faster and some side effects may be increased. The affected area should be clean and dry before application of the ointment. You must wash your hands thoroughly before and after applying this medicine.
It may cause burning sensation, itching, rashes, skin swelling, and redness immediately following application. However, these side effects are temporary and usually subside on their own. Inform your doctor if they persist for a longer duration.
Avoid direct contact with your eyes. In case of direct contact, wash your eyes with water immediately and seek immediate medical attention. It should not be used if the person is allergic to any of its ingredients. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or are breastfeeding.
- Uses / Indications: Takfa Forte Lotion is used in the treatment of atopic dermatitis. It is usually used only after topical corticosteroids or emollients have not worked for you.

- Pregnancy interaction:
- Takfa Forte Lotion may be unsafe to use during pregnancy.Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.
- Expert advice:
- Wash your hands before applying Takfa. Apply a thin layer to the areas of skin affected by atopic dermatitis (eczema). Make sure your skin affected by atopic dermatitis (eczema) is completely dry especially after bath or shower. Limit sun exposure during treatment even when the medicine is not applied on the skin. Do not cover the skin being treated with bandages or dressings. You can wear normal clothing. Avoid getting Takfa in the eyes or mouth. If the Takfa gets on any of these areas, it should be thoroughly wiped off and/or rinsed off with water. Stop Takfa when the signs and symptoms of atopic dermatitis (eczema) such as itching, rash, and redness go away or consult your doctor. Not recommended to be used for more than 6 weeks and if needed, treatment may be repeated with breaks in-between. Can’t be used if your immune system is weak (for example, if you have cancer or are taking steroids for a long time). Inform your doctor if you have any infection on your skin including chicken pox or herpes. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to conceive or breastfeeding. Many people see an improvement in their skin in as early as one week. Not recommended in children aged below 2 years.
