Estocin 10 MG Eye Ointment is an antibiotic used to treat conjunctivitis, also known as pink eye. Conjunctivitis is the swelling or infection of the transparent membrane that lines your eyelid and eyeball. This medicine works by blocking the formation of proteins required for bacterial growth, thus reducing infection. This medicine is only effective for bacterial infections.
Estocin 10 MG Eye Ointment may cause some common side effects such as eye irritation, redness, discharge etc. Consult your doctor if these symptoms persist or if they become severe. Avoid activities like driving vehicles and operating machines as this medicine may make your vision blurry.
Estocin 10 MG Eye Ointment is taken as prescribed by your doctor. Your dose will depend on the severity of your condition. Try using this medicine at the same time every day to maintain a constant level of medicine in your body. Complete the whole treatment even if you feel better to avoid antibiotic resistance (a condition where infection-causing organisms develop the ability to defeat the effect of drugs designed to kill them).
Estocin 10 MG Eye Ointment is not recommended in children below 1 year of age. Inform your doctor if you use contact lenses before starting the treatment. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or are breastfeeding before taking this medicine.

- Estocin 10mg Eye Ointment is probably safe to use during pregnancy.Animal studies have shown low or no adverse effect on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. Please consult your doctor.
- Expert advice:
- Your doctor has prescribed Estocin to treat bacterial infections of the eye. Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. Apply pressure on the corner of the eye (close to the nose) for about 1 minute immediately after instilling the drop. Wait for at least 5-10 minutes before delivering the next medication in the same eye to avoid dilution. Stinging sensation may occur for 1-2 mins. Notify your doctor if it persists for longer. Make sure to use within 4 weeks of opening the bottle.

- This medicine is for external use only. Take it in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Hold the tube close to the eye/ear without touching it. Gently squeeze the tube and place the medicine inside the lower eyelid or ear. Wipe off extra liquid.
