HIMYCIN EYE OINTMENT contains Azithromycin which belongs to a group of medicines called Macrolide antibiotics. It is used to treat bacterial conjunctivitis caused by susceptible microorganisms such as Haemophilus influenzae, Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus mitis group, and Streptococcus pneumonia in affected individuals.
HIMYCIN EYE OINTMENT is not recommended for use if you are allergic to azithromycin.
HIMYCIN EYE OINTMENT should be used with caution in pregnant and breast-feeding women only if it is clearly necessary. It is also advised to be used with caution in children and adolescents (aged 1 to 18 years) use after consulting the doctor.
The most common side effects of receiving HIMYCIN 1% EYE OINTMENT are eye irritation, and conjunctival hyperaemia (acute inflammation of eye). Consult your doctor if any of these symptoms worsen.
USES OF HIMYCIN 1% EYE OINTMENT
Treats bacterial conjunctivitis caused by susceptible microorganisms (such as Haemophilus influenzae, Streptococcus mitis group, Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pneumonia) in affected individuals

- Pregnancy interaction:
- Himycin 10mg Eye Ointment is probably safe to use during pregnancy.Animal studies have shown low or no adverse effect on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. Please consult your doctor.
- Expert advice:
- Your doctor has prescribed Himycin to treat bacterial infections of the eye. Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. Apply pressure on the corner of the eye (close to the nose) for about 1 minute immediately after instilling the drop. Wait for at least 5-10 minutes before delivering the next medication in the same eye to avoid dilution. Stinging sensation may occur for 1-2 mins. Notify your doctor if it persists for longer. Make sure to use within 4 weeks of opening the bottle.

- This medicine is for external use only. Take it in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Hold the tube close to the eye/ear without touching it. Gently squeeze the tube and place the medicine inside the lower eyelid or ear. Wipe off extra liquid.
